Isaac Vargas is a social anthropoligst who works on topics related to the state apparatus and violence amid the Mexican war on drugs, particularly the forensic context. His research looks closely at everyday interactions as well as artifacts and spaces in which the state and victims configure a web of relationships. He has also explored how the images of the disappeared shape an imaginary about the "social effects" of the war.
